  • 1 Instant Pot

Ingredients
  

Pressure Cook Dal

  • 1 cup Moong Dal Split
  • 6 cups Water
  • 1/2 Jalapeno
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Chili Powder use 1/2 for less spicy
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Salt

Tarka (Tempering Spices)

  • 2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 Onion ~ 3.5 oz
  • 1 spring Curry Leaves ~ 14
  • 1/2 Jalapeno
  • 2 cloves Garlic

Instructions
 

  • Cut all the ingredients

Pressure Cook the Dal

  • Rinse the dal and add to the Instant Pot along with water, jalapeno, chili powder, salt and garlic
  • Turn on the Instant Pot to pressure cook for 12 mins.
  • Once done, slowly release the pressure

Tarka (Tempering Spices)

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a fry pan and add in the cumin seeds. Wait 30 seconds and add the onions
  • After about 10 mins add the garlic, curry leaves and jalapenos
  • Continue to fry until the mixture starts to turn brown

Finalize the Dal

  • Open the instant pot and add the Tarka
  • Saute on low for 5 mins
  • Ready to serve. Garnish with cilantro if desired
